Update before the weekend

This weekend I’ll be attending a friend’s wedding, so I will be away from New York and away from things online for a couple days. So if you have an immediate, burning questions that need answering, of if you just need some help, please use the Sandbox Forums.

In the meantime, though, I wish all of you happy designing. Design early, design often. Or something like that.

Good news. We received another sponsorship from Lisa Sabin-Wilson, author of WordPress for Dummies, available September 2007. For more information, check our the info on The Sponsors page.

Thanks to Lisa’s generous support, the total pot for cash awards now stands at US$1500. So as of Friday, June 8, 2007, the awards for the competition are:

  1. First prize: US$650
  2. Second prize: US$425
  3. Third prize: US$275
  4. First three (3) runner-ups: a US$50 honorarium for each

Remember, this is subject to change as more sponsorships come on board. You can help us increase this by mentioning the competition to anyone you think might be interested in affiliating and sponsoring this competition.

Also, I’d like to thank the folks over at the WordPress Podcast for mentioning both our competition here as well as Mark’s WordPress Plugin Competition. Excellent. By the end of this summer, you should have all sorts of tools available to you to really trick our your blog.

I’d also like to give a special shout-out to Lorelle for mentioning both of our competitions, too. She’s been a big supporter of the Sandbox and has provided great feedback on the Sandbox. It’s a better theme for users like her.

Until Monday, happy designing.

i hope you will get some more sponsors for this competition.

According to the Paypal website, Indonesia is among the send and receive money network, though there might be more to the issue.

There will be absolutely no bank-to-bank transfers under any conditions. Sorry. A worst case scenario might involve using a money transfer service, like Western Union.

Just as an FYI, I’ve found Xoom.com a good solution for many of the countries that are not PayPal friendly - - like the Philippines, for example. Xoom.com allows you to transfer money to them from your PayPal account into their Xoom.com account. May want to check it out if the problem arises.

Dear Scott, How about using another network for transfer service like Moneybookers or Ikobo ? More of convenience than WU i guess…

The award money comes in from the sponsors through Paypal and goes out to the winners via Paypal. If you are unable to receive money at a Paypal account, we will work something out, per my discretion at that time. This will, of course, cause delays in any awards won being delivered.
