First things first. Yesterday I neglected to mention and thank one of the trio of elements necessary for the competition to have moved forward (the other two being the participants and the judges). I speaking about the sponsors.
So I’d like to thank Matt, Lisa, PressHarbor, Maja, and Jonathan. Their support for this all-volunteer program is exceptional and appreciated.
Now, I had mentioned in an earlier post that I had asked, if only generally, about sharing some of the feedback that the judges provided with their results. I know that two judges, Small Potato and Bruno, have published rather extensive results. David said he’d be happy to provide feedback directly to those interested, so contact him.
Now I’ve read through all the judges comments a number of times. Most of their comments were short and specific to this or that design. If this were a blog with marketing blurbs, I’d run with it. But it isn’t. Instead, I’m going to encourage them to publish their thoughts directly. So keep an eye on their blogs. I will.
So I’d like to go ahead an open up this blog to all the participants. If you’d like to write a post about your thoughts on design, the designs themselves, the competition, the results, WordPress, etc., then please just contact me (by email) and I’ll brief you on the details. And, as the audience, what would you be interested in knowing from the participants?
Wow. Very suddenly there is very little for an administrator like me to do. ![]()

Again, amazing job with the competition Scott! I am sure you need some rest. So go get some.
I’ve learned a LOT about Potassium and general web design from Bruno’s entry comments. Thanks for plugging links, Scott, this will be useful.
I know of something the administrators could do, which would make me very happy; Make a list of all available Sandbox skins out there! I don’t think that there’s that many, and it would be perfect to have a list of them here on sndbx.org!
@børge-
that’s a good idea, that several people have attempted elsewhere. I’m thinking it might make sense to collect them on the forums, since the list is bound to grow
had a question Scott - I am thinking of using the sandbox graphic within the footer of templates to indicate it’s based on sandbox (kinda like the little k2 graphic) what do you think?
the sandbox graphic is GPL, feel free to use it as you please. If you need source files, don’t hesitate to drop me a line: wp-admin [at] archgfx [dot] net
by “as you please” i mean “to promote the sandbox theme or the competition”.
i use it in my own themes to indicate that they’re based on the sandbox.
cool, thanks sunburntkamel!
It was a pleasure being one of the sponsors for Sandbox Design Competition, and CONGRATULATIONS to the winner! The templates are all looking wickedly good!
Awesome work to all who entered and congratulations to the winners! Great work on keeping things running here Scott :).
I had a chance to take a break from development and look at the progress on the site as well as browse through the entries and they look awesome. I’m looking forward to the next contest!

Sandbox Designs Competition
There are some awesome themes available to WordPress users now. Sandbox themes load fast, are lightweight and look GREAT. Take a moment to look at them and leave some comments for the authors.
