Impressive screen shot. My personal favorite. The girls and I have considered modifying our big breast blog into something with 3 columns (99% of our readers are 1024 or larger screen res).

Someday we will convert out blog into something similar to this. I love that clean web 2.0 look and ample white space.

Gratz to Arpit Jacob for what looks like a fantastic submission.

great design. The subcategories are not indented so it’s difficult to tell that they are subcats. Also the subcats are in red on the page menu but black in the category menu (the main cat and the sub cat colors are reversed). The large pic example does not fit either. I would love to use your template, are you planning on fixing these things and making the upgrade available for download???

    Thanks.

This is one of the best themes i’ve seen in a long long while. I love the little bit of blue that stands out.

Otherwise the entire theme is carefully and flawlessly executed, and every color and icon and font is perfectly matched.

A winner if I’ve ever seen one.

Are there supposed to be template files in this download? When I upload the Sandpress directory it gets listed under broken themes with the error missing template. there are no templates in the download. only a style.css.

i also have the newest sandbox theme installed as well. any idea what i’m missing?

Am I the only one this is happening to?

  15. Posted August 7, 2007 at 1:17 pm | Permalink | Edit

    @james-
please make sure you are running the latest version of wordpress (2.2.2 or 2.0.11), as there was a bug in the template handling in 2.2.1

  16. Posted August 7, 2007 at 4:16 pm | Permalink | Edit

    thank you everyone.

@james I haven’t tried downloading from here since I don’t want to mess up or cheat with the download counter. you can always download it from my site.

or check Adam’s reply it might solve your problem.

  17. Posted August 8, 2007 at 3:58 am | Permalink | Edit

Yes arpit, that was the issue. You have to be using WP 2.2.2 for the new sandbox themes to work.

  18. Posted August 8, 2007 at 4:13 am | Permalink | Edit

is it possible to use this design for the wordpress.com hosted blog, that is, if we upgrade.

if yes, how do we do it?

    This design is simply GREAT!

I personally think it’s just too plain but … I guess some people like it that way. :)

Nice work, but why yet another Big Blue Header?

  22. Posted August 20, 2007 at 3:00 am | Permalink | Edit

Love the design. I’ve been running Shades of Gray (as is) over at Web Developer’s Notebook and now that I’ve seen the winner—SandPress—I’m anxious to cast a site in it as well to show to people. Since I’ve been tied up on the road for weeks (couldn’t even keep up with the usual posts) I may keep Shades of Gray up a while longer until I can customize it (at least the header!) then switch over to SandPress.

So I think what I’ll do is switch in SandPress in place of Barthelme over at Techismo.

Meanwhile, I’ll be posting about the results of the competition at Web Developer’s Notebook.

Thanks to everyone (participants, judges, sponsors) for a great design event.
It’s amazing what blogging software—at least Wordpress—can do these days!

Aesthetically very pleasing and easy on the eye. Not exactly out-of-this-world kinda design, coz it’s pretty much another run of the mill layout and design. Pretty good nonetheless. Congratulations!

great theme, really wanted to try it out. had 2.0 installed and upgraded to 2.3 beta3. still have the broken theme message… any ideas?

  25. Posted September 26, 2007 at 3:53 pm | Permalink | Edit

Well, this is interesting. I’m having James’ problem: “missing template” with this theme, but I am running WP 2.2.2. I’ve downloaded other Sandbox themes from here and had no issues.

    Any ideas?

  26. Posted September 26, 2007 at 4:14 pm | Permalink | Edit

Sorry. The downloadable version was missing the /* Template: sandbox */ line, which I’ve added. Try downloading it again and then reinstall.

This is a great theme! The only issue I noticed was on this page:

    http://www.sndbx.org/live-preview/example-images/image-number-two/

You can see that the date image is split for some reason. I checked it out in Firefox and IE.

This is a very nifty theme. I wanna try it out on my site.

Did you base your design on 34sp.com by any chance? Same background image but much nicer navigation and colour usage to your design :)
